Universal Orlando's New Theme Park will be "Epic"

Universal's Epic Universe Concept Art
Exciting news has been released from Universal Orlando.  A long rumored fourth theme park was officially announced on August 1, 2019, entitled Universal's Epic Universe.  Universal described the vision for the park as an entirely new level of experience that forever changes theme park entertainment.  Universal further explains that this new park will take guests on a journey where beloved stories expand into vibrant lands – and where that journey is as much a part of their adventure as the ultimate destination.

This new park is the largest investment in the theme park business by Comcast NBCUniversal and is definitely giving Disney a run for its money by almost doubling Universal's footprint in Orlando.  The new park will be located on 750 acre south of Sand Lake Boulevard and east of Universal Boulevard with an expansion of Kirkman Road.  The new park will be located close the Orlando's huge convention center, and Rosen Hospitality School associated with UCF.  Fun fact: this land was previously owned by the company, but sold off in the early years before the success of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

As stated in the press release, Universal Orlando currently employees 25,000 people and will hire an additional 14,000 team members as part of Epic Universe, including professional, technical, culinary and other specialized positions.  The company currently contributes more than $302 million in annual state and local taxes – a number that will nearly double when the new theme park opens.  Universal has also entered into a 50/50 partnership to expand Kirkman Road to the new park to alleviate traffic which is a major issue in this area.
So what will be in the new park?  No announcements have been made, but it's a good bet that a large section will be dedicated to Nintendo characters and Pokemon as well as a highly themed onsite hotel with more to come.
Opening dates have yet to be announced but we can't imagine that it's somewhere in the three year range.
